Way received his Master of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, and an MBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

He has been a licensed Texas engineer since 1983, and has structural and civil engineering experience for over 35 years. Way joined the team at Bovay Engineers, Inc., a multi-disciplinary firm where he was exposed to various industrial and public projects such as the Sugar Land State Penitentiary, guard towers, meat and vegetable canning plant, monorails, boiler plant, sleeping quarters, etc. He also gained civil engineering insight on various site development projects. Way then joined Penrose and Associates, Inc., also a multi-disciplinary firm, where he gained experience in various private structures that are more architecturally demanding.  In 1987, he founded Way Consulting Engineers, Inc. a dual-discipline engineering firm offering expertise in structural and civil engineering services.

In addition to his engineering background, Way has always shown a keen appreciation of architectural expressions. This, coupled with his analytical and conscientious nature, allows him to be creative and able to offer practical and out-of-the-box solutions.
